If you’re unsure about the opportunities available to you, an apprenticeship in hospitality may be the correct route. Being a Thomas Franks Apprentice doesn’t always mean being a chef, there are so many opportunities open to you whether it’s in an office or kitchen, and this is only the beginning.
Chef Academy
Our Chef Academy is entirely bespoke and unique to Thomas Franks and supports both apprentices, and Chefs honing their craft without obtaining a formal apprenticeship qualification providing you with the culinary education that suits you best.
On The Job Training
Our Chef Academy programmes are designed to offer hands-on experience and expert guidance with the chance to earn whilst you learn. You'll have the opportunity to grow and develop your skills while working alongside a dynamic team in a supportive environment.
Masterclasses
You’ll be able to attend masterclasses around once per month to try out new recipes and work with fresh and exciting ingredients with your colleagues on the Chef Academy. The masterclasses are run by our expert chef team, like Robert Aikens, and in partnership with our apprenticeship provider.
Mentorship
Each individual on the Chef Academy is assigned a senior chef from the within the business as a mentor to guide and advise them on their culinary journey. This mentor can support with career goals and share useful insights and experience with their mentees.
Apprenticeships
As part of the Chef Academy, you have the opportunity, to engage in the full apprenticeship. We support apprentices at Commis Chef - Level 2 (12 months) and Chef de Partie - Level 3 (18 months).
You’ll benefit from everything above, as well as gaining your formal apprenticeship qualification at your chosen level.

Hospitality & Front of House
Our Academy prepares our future hospitality stars for their careers in events and hospitality. This Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor apprenticeship (18 months) is a bespoke programme, designed to equip individuals with the skills they need to thrive and the means the progress in the business.
On The Job Training
Our Hospitality apprenticeship Academy programmes are designed to offer hands-on experience and expert guidance with the chance to earn whilst you learn. You'll have the opportunity to grow and develop your skills while working alongside a dynamic team in a supportive environment.
Ball Season
Individuals on the programme have the opportunity to be involved in our prestigious Ball Season, where they can gain valuable experience in planning and executing a range of impressive events. Apprentices will also receive wine training where they will be able to use their knowledge to inform provide guidance to esteemed clients and senior chefs alike.
Mentorship
Each individual on the Hospitality Academy is supported by our Events and Hospitality Director and is assigned a mentor from within the business to guide and advise them throughout the programme. This mentor can support with career goals and share useful insights and experience with their mentees.

Non-Craft Apprenticeship
Our support teams in Marketing, HR, Finance, Purchasing, Nutrition and Health and Safety also offer routes for progression and development, offering apprenticeships and training to support a busy and thriving catering business.
